
Hutchins and Hamilton Help Kentucky Fend Off Marshall
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ally Hutchins had a two-hit, two-run night for Kentucky and Karissa Hamilton bashed her third home run of the season as Kentucky beat Marshall 7-3 on Wednesday night at John Cropp Stadium.
Kentucky scored seven runs on 10 hits in the game with both Hutchins and Maddy Clark recording multi-hit games for the Wildcats. The top four batters in Kentucky’s order all had an RBI in the game, with Peyton Plotts, a sophomore from Lexington, launching a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to give Kentucky a 3-0 lead. UK threw up a four spot in the bottom of the fifth on three different Herd pitchers to break open the game with a 7-0 lead.
Carson Fall started the contest for the Wildcats, allowing no runs and striking out five batters through the opening three innings before being replaced in the circle by fellow freshman Julie Kelley, who threw the next three innings, only surrendering one run to the 17 batters she faced with four strikeouts. Alexia Lacatena pitched the seventh inning and closed out the game with a popout to the right side as Kentucky closed the 7-3 win over Marshall.
UK is now 24-17 on the year, sitting seven games over the .500 mark on the season. Marshall fell to 22-17 with the loss. The Wildcats will take their Southeastern Conference bye week this weekend in Boston, Massachusetts by playing the Boston Terriers twice and Sacred Heart once beginning Saturday. Weather is in the area, so be alert for potential game changes with the weather.

Julie Kelley was the key player in the game, throwing three solid innings and recording four strikeouts to record the win in the circle.
