No. 14 Arkansas Sweeps Kentucky in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks completed the sweep of Kentucky on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 win at Bogle Park in Fayetteville. With the loss, Kentucky falls to 21-15 and has now lost four-straight games.
Carson Fall got the start for UK in the circle and went 5.0 innings, allowing only two runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts as she put together her best Southeastern Conference start of the season Sunday afternoon. Arkansas took the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on a lead-off solo home run to center to give the Razorbacks their first lead of the game, and it ended up being enough.
Kentucky’s offense had one hit through the opening six innings, a lead-off home run on the first at bat of the game from the bat of Ally Hutchins, which gave the Wildcats the provisional 1-0 lead at the time. Arkansas then responded back with a run in the bottom of the first and the home run in the sixth was the only other scoring in the game.
The Wildcats loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with two outs on a single by Maddy Clark and then walks to Lauryn Borzilleri and Cassie Reasner to put the tying run 60 feet away and the go-ahead run in scoring position, but a popout to the right side of the infield ended the game with the Razorbacks completing the sweep, 2-1 on Sunday.
Arkansas is now 26-7 on the year and sits 6-6 in SEC play with the sweep. The Wildcats are 5-7 in SEC play and 21-15 overall. Kentucky’s next game will be Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2 against the Louisville Cardinals at Ulmer Stadium in the Derby City.
