
Langdon Throws One-Hitter in 5-0 Midweek Win Over Bellarmine
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore pitcher Sydney Langdon threw a complete-game shutout one-hitter Wednesday afternoon as the Kentucky Softball team beat Bellarmine 5-0.
Langdon went the distance for her first complete game of the season, as she allowed just one hit and struck out three batters. Only one Bellarmine batter reached second base all game and the only hit allowed was in the bottom of the sixth inning to the Knights lead-off hitter of the frame. Langdon threw 96 pitches with 60 recorded as strikes.
Offensively, Kentucky logged 13 hits in the game, and got RBI hits from McKenzie Bump, Cassie Reasner and Lauryn Borzilleri. The Wildcats had 13 hits and left 11 runners on base in the game with at least one LOB in every inning, but Kentucky played sound defense all game and was able to complete the comprehensive win over the Knights to pick up its 19th win of the season.
Kentucky will next play against No. 16 Ole Miss over the weekend at John Cropp Stadium in a three-game Southeastern Conference series that begins Friday night at 6 p.m. ET with game one on SEC Network as Matt Schick and Erin Miller will have the call from Lexington. Dave Baker and Carol Bruggeman will call the Saturday and Sunday games at 2 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET respectfully on SEC Network+.

McKenzie Bump’s RBI single in the top of the first inning as she took the ball the other way to score Ally Hutchins, who led off the game by reaching on an error was the key play in the game.

The key player in the game was Sydney Langdon, who threw a complete-game shutout and only allowed one hit.
