Cassie Reasner Named Softball America National Star of the Week
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky’s sophomore shortstop Cassie Reasner was named the Softball America National Star of the Week on Tuesday, the publication announced. Reasner helped Kentucky to a three-game sweep of Missouri on opening weekend of Southeastern Conference play as the Wildcats christened the 2025 home season at John Cropp Stadium with three-straight wins.
Reasner was responsible for driving in 10 of Kentucky’s 20 runs scored on the weekend as she hit .667 with six hits in her nine at bats, driving out three home runs and scoring four runs of her own. Reasner set new career highs for hits in a game (3), runs batted in (5) and runs scored (2) in Sunday’s 9-6 win over the Tigers to clinch the series sweep in UK’s first league sweep of an SEC team since 2023.
The shortstop from Harvest, Alabama played clean defense all weekend long in the hole as well. Reasner is starting at SS for the first time in her career in 2025 and has been impressive all year long, as she is currently batting .349 with 16 runs scored, 22 hits in her 63 at bats, three doubles, a team-leading six home runs and 20 RBI, good enough for second place on the team in that category.
Kentucky currently sits 17-6 overall and 3-0 in the SEC and will play host to No. 17 Virginia Tech on Wednesday night at 5 p.m. ET at John Cropp Stadium for a rare ranked-versus-ranked midweek match-up against the Hokies on SEC Network+.
