Sydney Langdon Wins SEC Freshman of the Week Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Softball pitcher Sydney Langdon was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman of the Week on Tuesday afternoon after throwing her first SEC win Sunday night in Kentucky 2-1 triumph over Auburn to claim the series win.
Langdon went the distance, surrendering just one run on the pair of hits while striking out five batters and only walking two. She ended the game with her fifth strikeout of the night with the go-ahead run at the plate and capped off her first SEC win and complete game by doing so. She is now 5-4 on the year and Sunday marked her fourth complete-game win of the season.
The Perry, Georgia native needed just 107 pitches to get through the game as 65 of her 107 pitches were recorded as strikes and she faced 25 batters in the game. This marks Langdon’s first-career SEC weekly honor in her Kentucky career.
Kentucky plays South Carolina in its final home series of the 2024 season beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. ET from John Cropp Stadium live on SEC Network+. Tickets are available at UKathletics.com/tickets for both reserved seating and general admission/berm seating.
