Women’s Tennis Battles Through Tennessee Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Kentucky women’s tennis returned to Knoxville, Tenn. this weekend to take on the Tennessee Invite at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.

Throughout the tournament, UK faced opponents from the University of Tennessee, University of Virginia and Ohio State.

Friday, the Wildcats kicked off the weekend against UVA in doubles and OSU in singles play while the second day consisted of doubles against Tennessee and singles versus UVA. The final day began early with doubles against Ohio State followed by singles versus Tennessee.

Day One featured wins for Zoe Hammond in singles as she defeated her Buckeye opponent, 6-4, 6-4. Ellie Myers also saw singles success with a 6-3, 7-6(2) victory while teammate Makayla Mills also came out on top, 7-5, 6-4.

On the second day of the tournament, the pair of Lizzy Stevens and Mills dominated in doubles competition defeating their Tennessee foes, 7-6(5). Once again, Myers found singles success once again with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-0 win.

The last day features another doubles victory for Stevens and Mills who won over Ohio State, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0. Stevens then went on to win her singles match, 6-3, 6-4.
