Swimming & Diving Travels to Texas A&M for SEC Dual

by Greg Welsh

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Kentucky swimming & diving will face its first SEC competition of the season when the Wildcats take on Texas A&M this Thursday at the Rec Center Natatorium beginning at 4 p.m. EDT. The meet can be seen live on SECN+ with real time results available via the Meet Mobile app.

The Aggies enter at No. 14 in the men’s CSCAA rankings and No. 22 in the women’s poll, while the UK women sit at No. 12. The meet marks the third dual of the season for Kentucky, all of which have come against top-25 opponents. The Wildcats have already faced both Indiana and NC State in early season action, falling to two of the top squads in the country.

Freshman Levi Sandidge has dazzled in his first two collegiate meets, setting the UK program record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 8:57.8 at NC State, while also earning SEC Freshman of the Week on Oct. 11. For the UK women, fifth-year diver Kyndal Knight owns the fifth-best score in the nation this season in the 3-meter, having set a personal-best mark of 353.25 against the Wolfpack. Knight was named SEC Women’s Diver of the Week following this performance, her sixth-time receiving the recognition.

The Aggie women are 1-2 in dual meets thus far this season, defeating Houston before dropping decisions to No. 3 Texas and No. 13 Indiana. The A&M men also fell short against the Longhorns and Hoosiers, but placed second among six schools at the SMU Classic in early October.

Top returnees for A&M include reigning All-SEC Second Team selection, Chloe Stepanek, as well as Aviv Barzelay, a member of the 2021-22 SEC All-Freshman Team.

Kentucky and Texas A&M last competed against each other when both programs participated in the 2022 NCAA Championships. There, the Aggies placed 19th in the men’s competition and 39th in the women’s standings, while Kentucky finished 12th (women’s) and 31st (men’s).
