LEXINGTON, Ky. – Campbell Kremer, who had two top-20 finishes during the 2021-22 season for the University of Kentucky men’s golf team, put together an impressive 36-hole qualifier score Tuesday at the Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University to secure a spot in the 2022 United States Amateur Championship.

In the 36-hole qualifier, Kremer started with an impressive 2-under par 69 in the first round and clinched the top qualifying spot with a 5-under par 66 in the second round. His overall winning score was an 7-under par 135. The native of Louisville, Kentucky, had five birdies in the first round and five birdies and an eagle in the second round. He clinched the top qualifying spot by three strokes.

Kremer will now set his sights on the 2022 U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held Aug. 15-22 at The Ridgewood Country Club and Arcola Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey. He will join fellow UK men’s golfer Garrett Wood, who qualified on Monday for the championship. More information on the event can be found at USGA.org.

Kremer saw action in nine events and made eight starts, including all seven events during the spring schedule during the 2021-22 season. The rising junior logged a career-best 72.89 stroke average during the season, generating 12 par-or-better rounds with two top-20 finishes. Kremer produced a tie for 16th at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, firing a 3-under par 54-hole total of 213. The score and finish were both career bests. He also tied for 25th at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate with an even-par scorecard and coupled that by tying for 24th at the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst No. 2. Kremer played 2-under par and boasted three rounds of par-or-better at the Schenkel Invitational finishing in 16th. At the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, he was UK’s top finisher with a 1-under par tournament score. Kremer made the starting lineup at both the Southeastern Conference Championships and NCAA Regional for the Wildcats.
