Kayla Kowalik Named to Team USA Roster for 2022 Canada Cup

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky senior catcher Kayla Kowalik was named to the 2022 Canada Cup roster, the United States Softball National Team announced Wednesday.
 
After participating in a tryout with Team USA including Olympians and World Cup players, Kowalik was selected by head coach Heather Tarr to participate in the 2022 Canada Cup as one of 18 players chosen.
 
Kowalik will compete in Surrey, BC, Canada June 20-26 as part of the competition.
 
The 2022 USA Softball WNT Canada Cup roster includes three veterans from the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team as well as six members from the previously announced World Games roster. The Red, White and Blue also adds five rookies who will represent the U.S. for the first time in their career as well as four athletes who have previously represented Team USA either as a member of the USA Softball Junior Women’s National Team (JWNT) or WNT. Kowalik is one of the aforementioned rookies.
 
The Canada Cup roster includes former (6) or current (12) student athletes from five athletic conferences – Pac-12 (seven athletes), SEC (five athletes), Big 12 (three athletes), CAA (two athlete) and ACC (one athlete) – with three athletes representing UCLA followed by Florida, James Madison, LSU, Oklahoma and Washington who each have two athletes on the squad. Also represented is Arizona, Florida State, Kentucky, Texas and Utah with one athlete apiece.
