LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 14 seeded Kentucky Softball team will host the 2021 NCAA Softball Lexington Regional this weekend at John Cropp Stadium, welcoming Notre Dame, Miami (OH) and Northwestern to the Bluegrass for a double-elimination tournament.

The winner of the Lexington Regional will advance to Super Regionals next weekend to face the winner of this weekend’s NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional.

Kentucky opens against the fourth-seeded Northwestern Wildcats on Friday at Noon ET on ESPN2, ESPN3 and the ESPN app. The ESPN family of networks will air all games of the Lexington Regional with Mike Couzens and Carol Bruggeman on the call from John Cropp Stadium. TV assignments will be released on a day-by-day basis based off of the schedule around the country.

Single-game tickets are now on-sale for the Lexington Regional at UKathletics.com/tickets. COVID protocols are still in place all weekend, with masking and social distancing measures implemented.

Notre Dame out of the Atlantic Coast Conference and Northwestern from the Big Ten both secured at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament as one of the 30 best non-conference winners. Miami won the Mid American Conference and secured the automatic bid from that league.

This is Kentucky’s fifth-straight year hosting an NCAA Regional, dating back to 2016. The Wildcats have made the last four NCAA Super Regionals. There was not a tournament in 2020 due to the pandemic.
