No. 9 UK Faces No. 5 Florida in Highest-Ranked Series in the Nation
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The college softball world’s eyes will be fixated on Gainesville, Florida this weekend as the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats head to the Sunshine State to face off against the No. 5 Florida Gators in what is the series with the two highest-ranked teams competing across the country this weekend. It is also the first three-game series of two top-10 teams in the nation so far this season.
This weekend also marks the opening weekend of Southeastern Conference competition, as Kentucky opens with the Gators for the second time in the last four years (2018).
All three games of the series will be broadcasted live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the ESPN app with Kyle Crooks (pxp) and former Gator great Francesca Enea (color) on the call from Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville. Friday night’s game will start at 6 p.m. ET, with both Saturday and Sunday’s match-ups slated for 1 p.m. ET first pitches.
Kentucky is 19-0 on the young season, off to its best start in program history. UK leads the SEC in 10 of 12 offensive categories, and ranks inside the top 10 of several national offensive categories. The No. 5 Florida Gators have won 14 of its 15 games this season, only dropping a game to Florida State as part of a split with the Seminoles last weekend.
