FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – Annika Williams’ pentathlon performance and the women’s distance medley relay each posted performances, which rank in the top three in school history to highlight Kentucky’s Thursday at the Southeastern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the University of Arkansas’ Tyson Track Center.

Williams piled up a personal-best 4004 points in the five events, which rates as the No. 2 on the UK all-time performers’ list and was fourth on the day among all competitors. A sophomore from Calvert, Texas, Williams posted a personal best in the 800-meter run (2:31.41) and tied her previous top scores in the high jump (5’9.75″/1.77m) and long jump (19’2.75″/5.86m). The long jump came on her final attempt and was a clutch leap after fouling on her first two tries.

Meanwhile, the distance medley relay of Jenna Schwinghamer, Masai Russell, Bryanna Lucas and Jenna Gearing notched the third-best time in school history, 11:12.91.  That effort finished in fifth place.

The men’s DMR unit of Dylan Allen, Kenroy Williams, Jacob Brizendine and Jake Allen got the Wildcats on the scoreboard with an eighth-place finish, timing at 9:43.51.  The day’s action was completed with Molly Leppelmeier placing seventh in the women’s weight throw with a hurl of 67’3.25″/20.50m.

After the first day of competition, the Wildcat women are in fourth place with 11 points. The men are in 11th place with one point.  The top-eight places in each event score points on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

Friday’s action begins at 11 a.m. ET and features finals for four men’s and four women’s events, plus preliminaries in 12 events.  The meet concludes Saturday with finals in 11 men’s and 10 women’s events.  Live results can be found at FlashResults.com. Live coverage of the event will air on SEC Network Plus and the broadcast talent includes Dwight Stones, Dan O’Brien and John Anderson. A tape-delayed broadcast of the championship will air on the SEC Network Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
