Jacob Cook Named to SEC Community Service Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second consecutive year, Kentucky men’s golfer Jacob Cook was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for his outstanding efforts in the community.
 
Cook has appeared in 13 events during his three-year career with his low round, low tournament score and best tournament finish coming during the 2019-20 season. He graduated last week with a degree in management and is a three-time Academic All-SEC selection.
 
The Frankfort, Kentucky, native serves as vice president for Kentucky’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and is heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes program. In the summer of 2019, he served on a mission trip to Nicaragua. 
 
Cook has participated in various activities including Breakfast with Santa, bowling with Special Olympics participants, he’s cooked and served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House and he’s packed and delivered food as a part of the God’s Pantry Backpack Program.
 
He’s also participated in the PGA’s Barbasol community event at the UK Children’s Hospital. Cook played a round of mini-golf setup throughout the hospital with patients, in addition to visiting with the children. He was also a participant in the Schenkel Golf Tournament’s annual clinic prior to participating in the event every fall.
 
In February, Cook joined volleyball’s Kendyl Paris as UK’s representatives at the SEC SAAC at the SEC offices in Birmingham, Alabama. The purpose of the SEC SAAC was to provide student-athletes with additional opportunities to engage with campus leaders and conference office staff.
 
All 21 league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004. The team honors student-athletes beyond the court for their on-going efforts in the community.
