Kentucky’s Women’s 4x400m Relay Team Continues to Impress
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two weeks removed from setting the world’s No. 1 time in the women’s 4×400-meter relays, Kentucky improved on it at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday. The team of Megan Moss, Abby Steiner, Chloe Abbott and Alexis Holmes won the event with a time of 3:30.64, which is now the fastest time in the NCAA and the second-fastest time in school history.
Freshman Langston Jackson continued to impress with two event wins. Jackson set a new school record in the 200m on Friday with a time of 20.58 and then won the men’s 60m with a time of 6.58, which places him at No. 2 in school history and currently No. 3 in the NCAA.
Additionally, Matthew Peare pulled off another impressive performance in pole vault, setting a new school record with his mark of 17-9.25 (5.42m).
The Wildcats will again be at two different meets next weekend as most of the team will compete at the Tiger Paw Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Clemson, South Carolina, while the distance runners will compete at the Iowa State Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Ames, Iowa.
Doc Hale Elite Meet Day One Winners
Molly Leppelmeier won the women’s weight throw with a mark of 63-2.25 (19.26m).
Tatiana Aholou won the women’s long jump with a mark of 19-7.50 (5.98m).
Robert Springfield III won the men’s long jump with a mark of 23-10.25 (7.27m).
The men’s distance medley relay team of Brennan Fields, Gabriel Szalay, Joseph Palmer and Trevor Warren won the event with a time of 10:09.27.
Doc Hale Elite Meet Day Two Winners
Ellen Ekholm won the women’s high jump with a mark of 5-8.75 (1.75m).
Rahman Minor won the men’s high jump with a mark of 7-1.00 (2.16m).
Lance Lang won the men’s 200m with a time of 21.37.
Nicole Fautsch won the women’s shot put with a mark of 51-5.00 (15.67m).
