McDonald Clinches Back-to-Back in 4-0 Sweeps

AKRON, Ohio – No. 46 Kentucky polished off its non-conference schedule with back-to-back 4-0 sweeps of Niagara on Saturday in Akron, Ohio.
 
The pair of wins pushes the Wildcats to three straight in the past two days.
 
Freshman Theo McDonald highlighted both contests with match-clinching decisions in the third singles slot of each contest. In the opener, McDonald followed fellow freshman Kevin Huempfner’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Lukas Wenninger with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat of Bruno Goncalves. No. 36 Ryo Matsumura won 6-1, 6-1 over Wenninger in the follow-up before McDonald ended the match with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Pere Padro Parra.
 
Niagara forfeited a point for both doubles and singles play in each contest after fielding an incomplete lineup due to injury.
 
The Cats return to Southeastern Conference play at home next week, battling No. 7 Texas A&M on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET.
