Men's Soccer Staff to Hold Open Practice for Coaches

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s soccer program will host an open training session for local coaches in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches’ Open Training Week. The session will take place Wednesday, April 3 from 8:15 – 10:15  a.m. at UK’s training facility adjacent to The Bell Soccer Complex.

United Soccer Coaches profiles the event as a nationwide initiative that provides an opportunity for coaches from all levels and backgrounds to experience new environments, observe high-level training sessions, and learn from one another. Men’s and women’s teams at the college and professional levels welcome local soccer coaches in their communities to attend a practice.

Kentucky Men’s Soccer Head Coach Johan Cedergren along with Associate Head Coach Chase Wileman, Assistant Head Coach Josh Oldroyd and Director of Operations Marcus Aldaba earned the United Soccer Coaches’ Southeast Region Staff of the Year for the 2018 season.

The Wildcats return nine regular starters — including All-Americans Enrique Facusse and Aimé Mabika, in addition to All-Conference selections Kalil ElMedkharJason Reyes and Leon Jones — from their record-setting 2018 season. Last fall, UK won the Conference USA double, set the school record for wins, reached the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, went 5-1 against top-25 opponents and welcomed multiple 3,000-plus crowds to The Bell to name but a few accomplishments.
