Olding Scores Fourth Goal of Season as No. 12 Tennessee Beats UK

by Chris Shoals

LEXINGTON, Ky.  – Sophomore Hollie Olding scored her fourth goal of the season in the 86th minute, the first Kentucky goal scored in Southeastern Conference play this season, but it wasn’t enough of a late rally as the No. 12 Tennessee Lady Vols escaped Lexington with a 3-1 win over UK.

The Wildcats will take the rest of the weekend off before a Thursday night battle in Tuscaloosa against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The match will kick at 8 p.m. ET live on the SEC Network, ESPN+ and the ESPN app.

Olding scored with UK trailing the match, 3-0. Abby Steiner took a shot from the left side of the pitch that was saved by UT keeper Shae Yanez, but the rebound spilled to Olding on the back-post making a crashing run and she buried with pace into the back of the net. It was Olding’s first-career goal scored in SEC play.

Tennessee took the lead in the 37th minute on Bunny Shaw’s first of three goals on the night. A shot from MA Vignola was sprayed by Payton Woodward, but the rebound fell to Shaw, who hammered home the rebound.

After a 1-0 halftime deficit, Tennessee doubled its lead on a corner kick from the left side that was headed home by Shaw. Katie Cousins had the assist directly from the corner.

In the 74th minute, Shaw converted the hat trick with a penalty.

In her first collegiate state, Woodward made five saves on 19 Tennessee shots.
