Countdown to First Serve: Meet Emily Franklin

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Middle blocker, Emily Franklin, hails from Mesa, Ariz., and is entering her sophomore season for the Kentucky volleyball program.
Franklin is a two-time selection to the All-SEC Academic team. In her redshirt freshman season, Franklin earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors following the final regular season week of the season. She posted 17 kills and seven blocks in two matches to close the regular season. In 2014, Franklin appeared in 24 matches and made 12 starts. She had 88 total kills on a .302 attacking clip. Franklin added 57 blocks, 18 digs and five aces. She had a career-high 10 kills on .500 hitting with four blocks at Auburn. Against Ole Miss, she posted nine kills with a career-best .571 attacking percentage, five blocks and three digs. In her first career start, she registered nine kills on a .500 clip.

Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 11-12. UK is one of four sites selected for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in Omaha, Neb., from the Lexington Region. This marks the third time in five seasons Memorial Coliseum will host this premier volleyball event.
