Countdown to First Serve: Meet Kaz Brown

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kaz Brown, a sophomore middle blocker from Cedar Falls, Iowa, is the fifth player to be featured in our Countdown to First Serve series.
Brown earned All-SEC Academic Team and All-SEC Freshman team honors following her first season at Kentucky. During her freshman campaign, Brown registered 147 kills and a .347 hitting clip. She led the squad with 98 total blocks. She appeared in 29 matches and made 27 starts, while leading UK in blocks during 13 matches. Brown also was responsible for five or more rejections in eight matches. In her NCAA Tournament debut, she recorded a career-best 10 kills on a .600 hitting clip with four blocks vs. Oakland.

Kentucky’s Memorial Coliseum will play host to the NCAA Regionals Dec. 11-12. UK is one of four sites selected for the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight matchups with one team advancing to the Final Four in Omaha, Neb., from the Lexington Region. This marks the third time in five seasons Memorial Coliseum will host this premier volleyball event.
