LEXINGTON, Ky. – Funeral arrangements for former UK basketball great Mike Casey, who passed away on Thursday, have been set for Tuesday.

There will be a public viewing on Monday from 4-9 p.m. at Shannon’s Funeral Home in Shelbyville, Ky.

The funeral will be on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Shelby County High School gymnasium.

Casey passed away on Thursday at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville after he was removed from life support. He had congestive heart failure since 1988 and was recently on a heart transplant list, but he was taken off the list because he was too ill for the procedure according to his daughter.

Casey ranks 13th on Kentucky’s all-time scoring list with 1,535 points. He earned All-SEC honors in back-to-back years (1969-70), while also earning Academic All-America status his senior year, in 1970. The former Mr. Basketball in Kentucky (1966) was drafted #130 Overall in the eighth round of the 1970 NBA Draft by Chicago.
