LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky swimming and diving teams will host Tennessee in their first home meet of the season on Friday and Saturday. The two teams will have a split-squad dual meet with the men competing on Friday night at 5 p.m. The women’s teams meet Saturday at noon.
This is the first home meet of the season for the Blue and White, and the first against SEC competition. UK was in action two weeks ago at top-25 ranked Indiana. The Hoosiers topped the Wildcat men and women to open the season.
On the men’s side, senior Shane Eliason placed first in three events for Kentucky. Eliason topped the field in the 100-back with a 50.09 time. He then joined his teammates as the UK relays swept the meet in Bloomington. To open the meet, Eliason joined freshman Grant Cooksey and juniors Elvis Burrows and Eric McGinnis in winning the 200-medley with a time of 1:32.03.
Eliason teamed with McGinnis, junior Kyle Greene and sophomore Tyler Reed to conclude the day with a Wildcat victory in the 400-free relay clocking in with a 3:01.54 time.
On the women’s side, junior Megan Pulskamp captured her first win of the season in the 100-fly with a time of 55.01. The junior was also in on three second place finishes to lead the Cats. Individually, she scored second in the 200-fly with a 2:02.63 time. Pulskamp then teamed up with freshman Claire Archibald, sophomore Lindsey Graessle and freshman Kelsi Hall to take second in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:44.34. Additionally, Hall, sophomore Kayla Sergesketter, freshman Mandy Myers and Pulskamp ended the meet with a second place finish in the 400-free relay tapping in at 3:29.72.
This will be the third meet of the season for the Lady Vols. The Tennessee women have already captured wins over Louisville, Arkansas, Vanderbilt and the University of the Cumberlands. On the men’s side, this will be the second meet of the season for UK’s SEC-rival. Tennessee’s men also captured victories over Louisville and the Cumberlands.
