For the second consecutive year, the University of Kentucky Blue/White Spring Football Game will be played in an offense vs. defense format.
Coach Rich Brooks has chosen the format because of depth issues at certain positions which would make if difficult to have two full, separate teams. The scoring system will be released later this week. Last year?s game proved to be quite entertaining in that format, as the offense squeaked by with a 46-41 win.
?We really haven?t had all that many (injuries) this spring, it?s the ones held out of spring practice because of off-season surgeries,? Brooks said of the players who have missed parts or all of the spring. ?As long as we get through Saturday without any significant injury, we?ll be in good shape going into the fall.
?For some people, it (spring game) will be their last opportunity until next fall to show what they?re ready to do and how much they?re ready to contribute,? Brooks said. ?That?ll be the case with the two backup quarterbacks as well.?
Blue/White Game Information: The Blue/White Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium.
Admission and parking are free. Stadium entrances for the game include gates 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. Concession stands and the Nike Team Shops will be open on the stadium concourse. Game programs will be on sale for $1, with proceeds benefiting the K-Association letterwinners organization. The game will be a radio broadcast on the Big Blue Sports Network, including WLAP in Lexington. There will also be live streaming audio on . Season Ticket Renewal Deadline is April 21: The deadline for renewal of Kentucky football season tickets is Saturday, April 21. Tickets may be renewed over the Internet at ukathletics.com, in-person at the UK Athletics Ticket Office in the Joe Craft Center, or by mail.
Fans also may bring their season-ticket renewals to the Blue/White Spring Game. UK ticket-office personnel will be available to accept renewals from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the ticket booth outside Gate 4 of the stadium.
Spring Football Calendar: Practices are open to the media and public and are held at Nutter Training Facility unless noted otherwise. Practices may be moved indoors to the Nutter Field House in case of bad weather.
