Redshirt freshman cornerback Trevard Lindley and sophomore linebacker Johnny Williams have been named game captains for Saturday?s contest against Vanderbilt.
Game captains are usually chosen based on performance in the previous week?s game. In last Saturday?s win over Georgia, Lindley (Hiram, Ga.) had a career-high seven tackles, made the game-clinching interception in the final minute of the game, and also deflected another pass that was intercepted by the Wildcats. Meanwhile, Williams (Neptune Beach, Fla.) had a career-high six tackles and snagged the first interception of his collegiate career.
Lindley and Williams will join permanent captains Lamar Mills and Keenan Burton for the pregame coin toss.
Scout Team Players of the Week: Kentucky?s Scout Team Players of the Week in preparation for the Georgia game were freshman quarterback Will Fidler (Henderson, Ky.), freshman defensive back Jayce Long (Paducah, Ky.), and sophomore wide receiver Robbie McAtee (Louisville, Ky.) for special teams.
Little to Play; Tailback Starter Uncertain: Tailback Rafael Little will play against Vanderbilt, but it is uncertain who will start the game at that position, Coach Rich Brooks announced after practice on Thursday.
Little has not played since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery on Oct. 9. In addition, tailbacks Tony Dixon (hamstring) and Alfonso Smith (shoulder) also are recovering from injury. Brooks indicated that the starter would be a game-day decision based on how the players looked in warmups.
