The Kentucky men?s basketball team held its annual postseason awards banquet Wednesday night at the Lexington Civic Center. Patrick Sparks was named Most Valuable Player for the 2005-06 season, while sophomore Rajon Rondo picked up three trophies.
Rondo earned the awards for Most Deflections, Most Assists and Co-Best Rebounder. Fellow sophomore Randolph Morris shared the Best Rebounder award with Rondo, while also taking home the award for Leading Scorer. Junior Bobby Perry also claimed three awards on the night, including Most Improved Player, Mr. Hustle and Student-Athlete of the Year. It was the second consecutive year that Perry has been recognized for his efforts in the classroom.
Ravi Moss won Best Defensive Player and shared the Captain?s Award with fellow seniors Sparks, Brandon Stockton and Preston LeMaster. Ramel Bradley also took home Best Individual Workout honors for the second year, this time sharing the award with Lukasz Obrzut.
Stockton took home the team?s Leadership Award for his dedication to being a role model both on and off the court.
Tim Asher, longtime team videographer, was this year?s recipient of the Bill Keightley Award. The award goes to the individual who understands and exemplifies the pride, respect and the positive attributes associated with being a part of the Kentucky Basketball program.
