Flowers, Ruth Earn Game Captain Roles: Senior cornerback Earven Flowers and senior kicker Clint Ruth are the game captains for this week?s contest vs. Ohio, Coach Rich Brooks has announced.
Game captains are selected each week based on their performance in the previous week?s game. Flowers made three tackles, including one for loss, in the game at Florida and did an excellent job in pass coverage. Ruth nailed touchbacks on both of his kickoffs, giving him seven touchbacks in 12 kickoffs this season (58.3 percent).
Flowers and Ruth will join permanent captains Sweet Pea Burns and Shane Boyd at the pregame coin toss.
1984 Hall of Fame Bowl Reunion This Weekend: Members of the 1984 Kentucky football team that won the Hall of Fame Bowl will gather this weekend for a 20th-anniversary reunion.
The ?84 Wildcats posted a 9-3 record. They finished the regular season with a 17-12 win over Tennessee in Knoxville and capped the campaign with a 20-19 victory over Wisconsin in the Hall of Fame Bowl.
The Wildcat offense featured three of the top running backs in school history ? senior George Adams and freshmen Mark Higgs and Marc Logan. Adams led the team in rushing with 1,085 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The stingy defense was led by All-America safety/punter Paul Calhoun and All-SEC linebacker Cam Jacobs.
The team will have a golf outing Friday afternoon, a cookout on Friday night, breakfast on Saturday morning, and will be introduced at halftime of the Ohio game.

Thompson, White, Ransdell from ?84 Team to Serve as Honorary Captains for Ohio Game: UK?s honorary captains for the Ohio game, David Thompson, Oliver White, and Bill Ransdell, are from the 1984 Hall of Fame Bowl team. Thompson and White were the captains of the ?84 team. Ransdell, who currently serves as the analyst on UKTV Network telecasts, was the quarterback in 1984 and has been instrumental in helping coordinate the reunion.
