Four Kentucky players were honored Tuesday as The Associated Press released its 2004 All-Southeastern Conference teams. Gerald Fitch and Erik Daniels were named to the second team, while Chuck Hayes and Cliff Hawkins were honored on the third team.

It?s the most Kentucky players selected the AP All-SEC teams since 1978 when Jack Givens, Rick Robey and Kyle Macy were named first-team All-SEC and James Lee earned third team honors before guiding the Wildcats to its sixth NCAA Championship.

Mississippi State?s Lawrence Roberts was the only unanimous selection to the first team and was named both SEC Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. MSU coach Rick Stansbury was named SEC Coach of the Year in the media vote.

Daniels, Fitch Named to USBWA All-District Team

Erik Daniels and Gerald Fitch were named All-District 4 by United States Basketball Writers Association Tuesday. The duo, which also earned second team All-SEC honors by The Associated Press Tuesday, were among 10 players from the six-state district.

Mississippi State?s Lawrence Roberts was named District Player of the Year, while MSU?s Rick Stansbury was honored as District Coach of the Year.
