Men's Basketball

Gregg Polinsky, who joined the University of Kentucky men’s basketball staff last month as Director of Basketball Operations, has decided to return to the NBA’s New Jersey Nets to assist the director of scouting, UK coach Tubby Smith announced today.

Polinsky, who served the past two seasons as a scout for New Jersey, will work closely with the new NBA Developmental League for the Nets and assist with high school and college scouting throughout the nation.

“It was just too good of an opportunity for Gregg to pass up,” Coach Smith said. “He gets a multi-year contract, which is unheard of for most scouts, and he gets to keep his family in Birmingham.

“He was a great fit for us for the short time he was here and we wish him well.”

Smith plans to replace Polinsky but no timetable has been set.
