Wildcats Pick Up 26 All-America Awards for 2021 Outdoor Track and Field Season
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s and women’s track and field teams earned 20 All-America honors during the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced.
Following last week’s NCAA Championships in Oregon, UK picked up 15 first-team All-America honors, 11 second-team All-America laurels and 10 honorable mentions. Leading the way with three honors each were Dwight St. Hillaire, Lance Lang, Celera Barnes, Faith Ross and Megan Moss.
Combining men’s and women’s programs, Kentucky’s total of 26 first- and second-team All-America honors ranked sixth in the country.
Competitors were named first-team All-America for finishing in the top eight in an individual or relay event. Second-team All-America was earned for finishing 9-16 in an event. Honorable mention was bestowed on those finishing 17 through 24. Here are the awards won by the Wildcats:
Kentucky Men
The men won 19 total awards, seven first team, five second team and seven honorable mention.
Dwight St. Hillaire: first team 400m and 4×400 relay, honorable mention 4×100 relay
Lance Lang: first team 4×400 relay, second team 200m, honorable mention 100m
Kenroy Williams: first team 4×400 relay, second team 400 hurdles
Kennedy Lightner: first team 4×400 relay, honorable mention 4×100 relay
Josh Sobota: first team shot put, second team discus throw
Charles Lenford Jr.: second team discus throw, honorable mention shot put
Keaton Daniel: first team pole vault (silver medal)
Tai Brown: second team 110 hurdles
Trey Causey: honorable mention long jump
Rodney Heath Jr.: honorable mention 4×100 relay
Jacob Smith: honorable mention 4×100 relay
Kentucky finished the meet in 15th place, the Wildcats best showing since 2014.
Kentucky Women
The Wildcat women combined to garner 17 honors, eight on the first team, six second team and three honorable mention.
Celera Barnes: first team 100m and 4×400 relay, second team 4×100 relay
Faith Ross: first team 400m hurdles and 4×400 relay, second team 100m hurdles
Megan Moss: first team 4×400 relay, second team 4×100 relay, honorable mention 400m
Masai Russell: first team 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles
Dajour Miles: first team 4×400 relay, second team 4×100 relay
Annika Williams: second team high jump
Shadajah Ballard: second team 4×100 relay
Tori Herman: honorable mention 1500m
Molly Leppelmeier: honorable mention hammer throw
As a team, the Kentucky women finished in 21st place, the seventh-consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championships they have landed in the top 25.
