Kentucky Women’s Soccer Hosts Central Michigan on Sunday
LEXINGTON, Ky.- Kentucky (5-2-2) hosts Central Michigan (2-0-2) on Sunday at 2 p.m. at The Bell. This game will be streamed on SEC Network+ with Dave Baker and Payton Atkins on the call. This game will also be the last nonconference bout for the Wildcats.
“Sunday is another opportunity to get back out on the field and show some bounce back ability,” Kentucky head coach Ian Carry said. “I felt we had a great performance for 80 minutes or so against Auburn and we need to continue that into the first 15 minutes against Central Michigan to put us on the front-foot early, put us in a position that allows us to play our style of play and helps us continue to build this team in the direction that we want to go.”
UK is coming off of a 2-1 loss in double-overtime to Auburn in its first SEC game of the season. Kentucky played very well and led the majority of the contest until conceding an own goal in the 81st minute before dropping all three points in the 105th minute on a goal by Hailey Whitaker. Nonetheless, the Wildcats have many positives to take into their final nonconference game and the rest of their SEC schedule.
The Chippewas enter this game after a long break as they have not played a game since Sept. 8 against IUPUI where they won 2-1 at home.
Looking forward, UK travels to Texas A&M on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Location: Mount Pleasant, Michigan
Head Coach: Jeremy Groves (First Season)
Program Record vs. Kentucky: 0-1-0
2019 Team Record: 2-0-2
Last Time Out: The Chippewas defeated IUPUI, 2-1, on Sept. 8 at home.
Team Form: CMU will play its first game in 14 days but tied the first two games of its season followed by two wins.
