No. 1 Oregon Evens Series, Sets Up Winner-Take-All Game Saturday

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 1 Oregon used a four-run fourth inning to spark their offense and even the 2018 Eugene Super Regional with a 6-1 win over No. 16 Kentucky on Friday night at Jane Sanders Stadium.
 
The winner of the super regional and a spot in the 2018 Women’s College World Series will be decided on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET live on ESPN with Mark Neely (pxp) and former Washington All-American, Danielle Lawrie (color) on the call.
 
The Ducks got a complete game in the circle from sophomore Miranda Elish, who allowed two hits on the night and did not walk a Kentucky batter. Grace Baalman was the pitcher of record for Kentucky, and the first of three pitchers UK used in the game.
 
Key Stat
2. Kentucky will look to make it two appearances at the Women’s College World Series on Saturday night, as the winner of the game will punch its ticket to Oklahoma City.
 
Key Play
The key offensive play in the game for Kentucky was Alex Martens’ sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning to score Jenny Schaper from third with one out.
 
Key Player
Jenny Schaper was the key player in the game, collecting UK’s first hit in the game, and scoring the Wildcats’ only run.
 
Run Recap
Oregon scored three times on a Lauren Burke RBI single. The third run was ruled to score on the play, as the runner was retreating to second base, but when the ball left the field of play – the umpires ruled that the runner should be awarded two bases. After a long discussion with both coaches and the umpire crew, the runner was rewarded home. ORE 4, UK 0
 
Jenny Schaper and Katie Reed got aboard with nobody out and Alex Martens sacrificed a high ball to LF to scored Schaper from third with one out. ORE 4, UK 1
 
In the top of the sixth, Lauren Lindvall and Mia Camuso scored on an RBI double from Jenny Lilly to the wall in left center. FINAL – Oregon 6, Kentucky 1
