Humes Sensational in Tough-Luck Loss at No. 11 Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. – In the longest game of the 11-year Rachel Lawson era, sophomore pitcher Autumn Humes was nothing short of sensational on Saturday night, throwing 12 innings, and allowing the No. 11 Auburn Tigers nothing for 11 full innings. However, in the bottom of the 12th, Tannon Snow hit a walk-off home run to left to send Auburn home with the game and series win.
Humes pitched the entire game, and twice, in the sixth and seventh, had the winning run on third base with nobody out, and got out of the jams with strikeouts. She allowed just one walk to the 42 batters she faced and struck out four Tigers.
The offense just couldn’t find the timely hit for Kentucky, who also had its opportunity to win the game, in the later innings, but didn’t have a hit with a runner in scoring position all night long.

With the loss, UK drops its second in a row to fall to 19-8 overall and 2-4 in the SEC. Auburn picks up its 30th win to move to 30-6 on the year and gets back to .500 in the SEC at 4-4.

2005. Saturday’s game marked the longest in program history since 2005. In that game, that also went 12 innings, Kentucky lost to Illinois State, 5-4.

Autumn Humes was the key player in the game, as she pitched one of the best games of her career Saturday. Humes went the distance throwing 147 pitches, allowing just one run, one walk and got five critical strikeouts.
