Kentucky Men’s Golf Ready for SEC Championship in Sea Island
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s golf team begins postseason play at the Southeastern Conference Championship on Wednesday at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course (par 70, 7005 yards).
All 16 teams will play three rounds of stroke play Wednesday through Friday, with the top eight teams advancing into the match play bracket. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches will be played on Saturday, followed by the championship match on Sunday morning.
Live scoring for the championship can be found on the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd website. Saturday’s semifinal matches will be broadcast live digitally on SEC Network+ beginning at 1 p.m., while Sunday’s championship can be seen live on SEC Network at 8 a.m.
The formidable SEC field features 11 schools ranked among the top 25 in the nation: No. 1 Auburn, No. 3 Texas, No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 8 LSU, No. 11 Vanderbilt, No. 12 Ole Miss, No. 14 Tennessee, No. 16 Oklahoma, No. 17 Alabama and No. 25 Georgia.
The Wildcats, ranked No. 54 in the country, enter this week coming off a win at the Bluegrass Collegiate Invitational, the second victory for the team this spring. Three Cats finished inside the top five individually, with Cole Stockard sharing medalist honors, Jack Schoenberger placing T4 and Cameron Phillips registering a T5 result.
The Kentucky conference championship lineup will feature Schoenberger, Stockard, Jacob Lang, Jacob Settles and Phillips, marking the third time this season that Wildcats will utilize this starting five. Gavin Clutts will also travel as the Cats’ designated substitute.
Schoenberger, Settles, Lang and Clutts all appeared in the SEC Championship for UK last season, while the freshmen tandem of Stockard and Phillips will be making their debut in the event this week.
Kentucky will be paired with South Carolina, Mississippi State and Missouri for round one starting on hole No. 10 with tee times from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.
The Wildcats are hoping to qualify for match play at the SEC Championship for the first time since 2019 and secure the program’s first berth to NCAA regionals since 2022.
