Kentucky Hosts Ole Miss in Doubleheader at The Bell on Saturday
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will look to snap a
two-match losing streak on Saturday night against the Ole Miss Rebels at the
Bell Soccer Complex with kick-off slated for 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be
shown live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app with Dave Baker
(pxp) and Megan Skinner (color) on the call from Lexington.
Saturday’s match will be a part of a
doubleheader with UK men’s soccer, as the men’s team will open the day at 5
p.m. ET against No. 5 Charlotte before the UKWS match. One ticket will get fans
into both matches. There will be a minimum of 40 minutes inbetween the two
matches.
Saturday’s match with Ole Miss is the 23rd
all-time meeting between Kentucky and Ole Miss, with UK leading the way,
11-10-1. Lipsitz had not beaten Ole Miss in his tenure until 2014 – and now has
won two in a row over the Rebels. Last year, UK beat Ole Miss 4-1 in Oxford.
Kentucky’s strength of schedule is currently
No. 4 in the nation according to the detailed report of the RPI. It is the
toughest schedule so far played by any team in the SEC. Kentucky sits at No. 45
in the second release of the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). The top 32 teams
that are seeded by the selection committee will host a First Round match on
their campus sites.
UK has been shutout in back-to-back matches,
dropping a 2-0 decision to the Missouri Tigers on Thursday night before a 3-0
loss at No. 8/4 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon in hot and humid Columbia.
It’s the first time that Kentucky has been shutout in two straight matches
since Oct, 11 (at Miss St) and Oct. 16 (vs. Vandy).
