Nutrition Training Lab

Athlete/Team Rules

  1. The Nutrition Training Lab schedule will be closely aligned with the Nutter Weight Room schedule and is subject to change based on training schedules.
  2. Athletes training in other athletic department facilities are permitted to use the Nutrition Training Lab during regular hours.
  3. Athletes are not allowed to bring Non-Athlete students into the Nutrition Training Lab.
  4. Athletes are permitted to bring and prepare their own food.  Team cabinets are provided for non-perishable foods.  No perishable food can be stored in the Nutrition Training Lab by individuals.
  5. No athlete is allowed in the Nutrition Training Lab outside of regularly staffed hours unless accompanied by a member of the UK Nutrition or Strength Staff.
  6. Nutter Strength Staff members are allowed to bring athletes into Nutrition Training Lab outside regular hours to get pre-workout supplements and Grab & Go post-workout snacks.
  7. Athletes are allowed to prepare food before or after training.
  8. Athletes are not allowed behind the “blue counter” or to get bulk ingredients out of the stock coolers unless approved by Nutrition Staff.
  9. The Nutrition Training Staff determines how many grab & go snacks are allowed by athletes.
  10. Athletes are not allowed to serve themselves from the fruit/vegetable displays.
  11. The Nutrition Lab may be open on Saturday with limited hours based on Nutter Weight Room Schedule.
  12. Prior arrangement can be made through the Performance Nutrition Staff for team use of the Nutrition Training Lab.
  13. Athletes using the space are expected to clean up the space they use.  This includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Cleaning all dishes
    2. Wiping all counters/stoves/microwaves used in food prep
    3. Returning pans and utensils to the correct kitchen space for storage
    4. Throwing away all garbage
    5. Wiping tables after eating
  14. Athletes are expected to sign in when using the kitchen for preparing food or smoothies.
  15. Supplemental Protein may be given to athletes based on weight gain goals and on approval of AT, RD and SC coach. 
  16. A list of athletes that are using supplemental protein provided by Nutrition Department will be kept by the Nutter Nutrition Staff and is available to appropriate staff upon request.
  17. An athlete that does not abide by the stated rules is issued a warning.  If a second incident occurs that athlete will be placed on probation and not permitted to use the Lab.  The length of the probation is determined by the Nutrition Staff.
  18. If an athlete is found providing food for an athlete that is on probation, that athlete will also be placed on probation.
  19. In the event that incidents occur and the culprit is unknown, access to the nutrition room will be limited or denied to all athletes at the discretion of the Nutrition Staff.

 
 
Staff Rules

  1. Nutter/Shively SC, AT, Equipment, Ground & Support staff, as well as their grad assistants & interns, are allowed to have up to 3 grab & go snacks/day from Nutrition Room.
  2. If you are a staff member – please do not take the “last” of anything – banana, hummus, PBJ etc.
  3. Staff should not be behind the “blue counter” or getting bulk ingredients out of stock coolers without approval of the Nutrition Staff.
  4. Athletic trainers are allowed to take snacks for athletes who are ill.
  5. Nutter/Shively SC, AT, Equipment, Ground & Support staff, as well as their grad assistants & interns are allowed to use the Nutrition Lab Kitchens & equipment upon approval of the  Nutrition Staff during regularly staffed hours to prepare food brought from home.
  6. Food brought in by staff cannot be stored in the Nutter Nutrition Lab.  Please use the staff refrigerator located in the main lobby.
