High School: Four-year letterman and three-year starter at Harrodsburg (Ky.) HS ? Played quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back ? Had approximately 800 passing yards, 858 rushing yards, and 600 receiving yards his senior year ? Chosen second-team all-state by The Associated Press ? As a junior, passed for approximately 1,200 yards while adding 600 rushing yards ? Set a school record with seven touchdown passes in one game ? Two-year choice on the all-district and all-area teams ? Team was state runner-up in his freshman and sophomore seasons ? Coached by Donald Wayne Smith and Alvis Johnson ?
