Wildcats Set for Start of Postseason Competition at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats are set for the first meet of postseason competition this week with the start of the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships at the Hutsell-Rosen Track hosted by Auburn University.

This week, Kentucky will be competing against all 15 SEC programs for an SEC title, an event the Wildcats placed fourth in the final women’s standings with 63 total points during the indoor season.

Last time out, the Cats concluded the spring regular season on their home turf at the Jim Green Invitational, totaling 15 event wins, 10 new top 10 program marks and a pair of No. 1 NCAA marks.

Earlier this season, the Wildcats earned seven medals at the SEC Indoor Championships in February in College Station. Emmi Scales, Theo Mudzengerere and Kemarah Howard each earned their first career gold medals, along with Sharmelle Holmes winning silver in the women’s 60m, and Annie Murphy, Vanice Kerubo Nyagisera and Hannah Douglas each earning bronze medals.

In this week’s USTFCCCA national poll, UK ranked inside the top 20 in both the men’s and women’s rankings, coming in at No. 12 on the women’s side and No. 19 on the men’s. The Wildcats also currently feature 14 athletes, including two relay teams, ranking inside the top 20 in the Division I standings in their respective events heading into conference championship week.

Day one of the SEC Outdoor Championships in Auburn, Ala. will kick off tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. ET with Kate Powers, Meagan Ewers and Addison Stadsholt competing in the women’s hammer throw final and the opening event of the women’s heptathlon.

Friday’s events will conclude the final three events of the heptathlon, and feature the final eight preliminary track events, including the 100m and 110m hurdles, 1500m, 400m and 100m.

Day three of the SEC Championships will conclude Saturday night with the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays.
