Emmi Scales Reclaims NCAA Lead, Kentucky Dominates Final Day of Jim Green Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky Wildcats closed out the final day of the Jim Green Invitational today, totaling seven event wins, three top 10 program marks and a new NCAA No. 1 time.

Across the two-day meet of their home turf, the Wildcats totaled 15 event wins and 10 new top 10 program marks.

Kemarah Howard opened day of the meet with her first win of the outdoor season in the women’s high jump event, finishing with a final mark of 1.80m/5-10.75.

The Wildcats swept the 4x100m relays, with both the men’s and women’s teams finishing atop the leaderboard with times of 44.27 and 39.52, respectively.

In the women’s 5000m, junior Ava Hendren posted a career-best time of 16:47.03 to win the event, her first win of the season.

All three Wildcats, including Camden Bently, Emmi Scales and Rukia Nusra Omulisia, along with former Wildcat and Olympic Gold Medalist, Masai Russell, advanced to the women’s 100m hurdles final. Bentley featured as the first Wildcat to cross the finish line, posting a career-best time of 12.97, the seventh-fastest time in Kentucky program history.

In the final, Scales ran a career-best 12.68 time, the fourth-fastest time in UK history, and the new No. 1 time in the country. Bentley would surpass her career-best from the prelims with a time of 12.95 and Nusra Omulisia added a third PR with a time of 13.03.

Finishing first in the event, Russell set a new UK Outdoor Track and Field Complex facility record time of 12.40.

Sharmelle Holmes claimed the fifth event win on the day for the Wildcats, winning the women’s 100m final with a time of 11.23. Former Wildcat and two-time NCAA Champion Carlie Makarawu and current Wildcat Miles Jones finished first and second in the men’s half of the 100m race.

To close out the week, the Wildcats swept the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays, with the women’s team winning the event with a time of 3:33.64 and the men’s team finishing atop the leaderboard with a time of 3:07.39.

Following the completion of the Jim Green Invitational, Kentucky will now prepare for the start of postseason competition and the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships in Auburn, Ala. on May 14-16.
