Wildcats Host First Meet of 2026 at Annual Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational
LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a month-long hiatus, the Wildcats are set to return to the track, playing host to the annual Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational this weekend at the Norton Center in Louisville, Ky. on Jan. 9-10 to open the 2026 calendar year.
In their last time out, the Wildcats kicked off the 2025-26 indoor track season on Dec. 6 in Nashville, Tenn. at the Commodore Winter Challenge, featuring as the final meet of the 2025 calendar year.
In the first meet of the new season, Kentucky totaled 10 event wins, highlighted by Kate Powers (Weight Throw), Grayson Brashear (Weight Throw), Emmi Scales (60m Hurdles), Miles Jones (60m), Sharmelle Holmes (60m) and Meagan Ewers (Shot Put).
Eight Wildcats also improved their personal best times in their respective events, along with climbing the all-time UK leaderboard. Those top 10 marks for the Cats included Scales posted the fourth-fastest time (8.05) in the women’s 60m hurdles final, Anthony Waterman ran the eighth-best time (7.90) in the men’s 60m hurdles final. Jones ran the ninth-fastest time (6.65) in the men’s 60m final, and Hannah Douglas finished with the fifth-best time (37.42) in the women’s 300m.
This weekend in Louisville, Kentucky will face four in-state opponents, including Bellarmine, Cumberlands, Louisville and Western Kentucky, along with high-profile programs UCF, Cincinnati, Indiana, Ohio State, Oles Miss, Purdue and Vanderbilt.
Start times for the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational are set for noon ET on Friday and 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, kicking off with Dahlia Beasley, Julia Gunnell, Kemarah Howard competing in the women’s high jump event for the Wildcats tomorrow afternoon.
