Big Blue Preview: No. 17/16 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Plays Host to Central Michigan on Sunday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 17/16 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program, who is eighth in the latest NET rankings, will play host to Central Michigan on Sunday, Dec. 7 at Noon ET in Historic Memorial Coliseum.

Doors open to fans one hour prior to tip.

This season, the women’s basketball program will be giving out four mini collectors posters that create one larger artwork. Fans can get the first of the four mini collectors posters, which feature Amelia Hassett, at the entrances this Sunday, while supplies last.

It is also one of the fan favorite games of the season – Dance Day. The University of Kentucky dance team will lead youth participants through a choreographed routine at halftime.

Fans can still purchase single-game tickets to the Kentucky-Central Michigan game and all 11 of the program’s remaining home games this season. To shop single-game tickets, click here, and for a full list of the program’s nonconference promotional lineup, click here.

Darren Headrick will have the Kentucky-Central Michigan radio call for UK Sports Network, marking his ninth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP in Lexington and on 790 AM WKRD in Louisville. It also will be carried on SiriusXM channel 390, and on the SiriusXM App.

Big Blue Nation also can watch the game on SEC Network+, with Noah Frary and Christi Thomas on the call and Michelle Knezovic on the sideline.

UK Athletics recommends nine parking locations for fans attending games this season, including two parking locations with shuttle transportation (The Cornerstone Garage, High Street Lot). The shuttle at those parking locations starts 90 minutes prior to tip-off and breaks at the end of the first quarter. It resumes at the start of the third quarter and runs one hour postgame.

The Wildcats enter the nonconference contest 9-1, including 4-0 inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. The Cats haven’t played at home in 15 days, while playing two neutral games and two true road games during that stretch. In fact, the Cats have already played six games away from home this season, including four true road games.

UK has held three of those four nonconference, true road opponents to 48 points or fewer. Prior to this season, UK has only accomplished that defensive scoring feat three times total in the last 16 seasons (from 2009-10 to 2024-25).

The Wildcats have held seven of their 10 opponents to fewer than 50 points this season and even three of their 10 opponents to fewer than 40 points in 2025-26. Meanwhile, they have held seven of their 10 opponents to 35.0 percent shooting or less and all 10 of their opponents to under 40.0 percent shooting.

That’s a team that ranks first in the nation in blocks per game (8.4), second in the nation in field-goal percentage defense (30.1%) and third in the nation in scoring defense (48.4).

Kentucky is coming off a win at Maimi in the Southeastern Conference / Atlantic Coast Conference Challenge, 64-48, in Coral Gables, Florida, on Wednesday. Tonie Morgan scored a team-high 20 points. Morgan has led the team in scoring in three of the last four games, a stretch that includes a pair of 20+ point games. Clara Strack added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Cats, while Teonni Key added 11 points.

Their win contributed to a dominating 13-3 advantage for the SEC in the third annual challenge.

Kentucky leads Central Michigan, 2-0, in the all-time series. The two teams played a home-and-home in 2013 and 2014.
