LEXINGTON, Ky. – On Tuesday, competition will begin at the Wildcats annual swim and dive midseason meet, which emulates the layout of the SEC conference meet later in February. The four-day meet will begin on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. with a couple of relays and will continue through Nov. 21.
The Wildcats will face a handful of teams including Ohio State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Penn State, Purdue, UCLA, Yale, Pitt (diving only), Northwestern (diving only), and Miami (diving only).
Kentucky has had recent success individually, most recently against Louisville. On Nov. 6, freshman Falemana Tuufui set a program best time in the 50 free, the 200 medley relay also swam a school record, junior Libby Grether swam a top ten time, as did Tuufui once again in the 100 free. Along with a school record and top ten time, Tuufui is also coming of of SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
There is one familiar opponent among the field of teams, that is Indiana who the Wildcats faced in their first meet of the season. Although they fell to the Hoosiers, Kentucky performed well for the home opener meet. They will also face Cincinnati again this season on Jan. 30 at the Lancaster Aquatic Center for senior day.
The Wildcats are striving for their best season this week at the midseason battle in Columbus, Ohio. On Tuesday there will be no prelims, but Nov. 19-21 prelims will start at 9:30 a.m. and finals will begin at 5 p.m. Fans can follow along live results on the Meet Mobile App or here, and can watch the meet live here.
