Jack Loutit, Eli Stephenson Open NCAA Singles Championship on Tuesday
ORLANDO, Fla. – Kentucky men’s tennis players Jack Loutit and Eli Stephenson are set to open play at the 2025 NCAA Singles Championship on Tuesday, November 18 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Tournament action will run from Tuesday’s Round of 64 to the championship match on Sunday, November 23. One round of play will be conducted on each of the tournament’s six days of action. The entire championship will be streamed live on ESPN+.
Both Loutit and Stephenson earned a ‘9-16’ seed in the event, with the NCAA numerically seeding the top eight players and assigning generic seeds to the next best eight players in the draw. The seeds protect the two Cats from meeting another seed until the Round of 16.
Loutit will open play on Tuesday at 1 p.m., taking on Illia Maksymchuk of UNLV. Stephenson will follow at 3:30 p.m. ET, facing off against No. 116 Luis Felipe Miguel of Florida State.
Stephenson qualified for his first career individual NCAA Championship after an undefeated run at the ITA South Sectional Championships in Athens, Ga. earlier this month. The junior from Louisville, Ky. has enjoyed a career fall season, amassing ten wins over two tournaments including four victories over ranked opposition. Entering this season, Stephenson only boasted two career ranked wins, with both coming in the first fall tournament of his career. In his first tournament of the fall, Stephenson won seven matches in six days at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla, advancing to the main draw after beginning the week in pre-qualifying.
After initially missing the entry list for the event, Loutit gained entry to his second career NCAA Singles Championship after a withdrawal. The junior from Auckland, New Zealand is 6-3 across two tournaments this fall and came within one match of qualifying for the event directly at the ITA All-American Championships. Four of Loutit’s six wins this fall are against ranked opponents, including a career-best win over No. 15 Martin Borisiouk of NC State. Loutit earned a career-high ITA Singles Ranking of No. 28 entering the fall season.
The NCAA Singles Championship will be the last fall tournament for the Wildcats. A full spring schedule, which features the team portion of the season, will be released at a later date.
