LEXINGTON, Ky. – The SEC Tournament begins on Wednesday for the No. 11 seeded Wildcats, where they will take on the No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks in Auburn, Alabama at 10 a.m. ET. Kentucky hopes to beat the Razorbacks for a second time this season, but it will be a tough matchup as the last time the two teams met the Wildcats clinched the match 4-3.
In the previous meetup of Kentucky and Arkansas on March 16, the singles play came down to the wire to give Kentucky their first SEC victory of the season. Junior Ellie Myers clinched the match on court six, which has been one of her many big moments this season so far.
The Wildcats will continue to rely on every court for their continued success, starting with junior No. 39 Zoe Hammond at one singles. Sophomore No. 91 Julia Zhu continues to show fight on two, which has also been huge in the recent performances of Kentucky.
In doubles, the veteran pairing of fifth-year Lizzy Stevens and senior Ellie Eades has been a force to be reckoned with. After defeating the No. 14 duo this past weekend, they have moved up in the ITA rankings to their highest yet this season at No. 32.
Arkansas has a tough squad of their own featuring No. 77 Carolina Gomez Alonso in singles and the doubles pair of No. 42 Carolina Gomez Alonso and Olga Bienzobas.
Kicking off the SEC Tournament, the match is set to feature a lot of fight and a lot of prove for both team’s post-season hopes. The match will begin at 10 a.m. ET and fans can follow along on StatBroadcast or watch here.
