Karlie Campbell Remains Even, Tied for 15th Place at the SEC Championship

TAMPA – Karlie Campbell, a freshman competing in her first Southeastern Conference Championship, remains even-par through 36 holes to improve to 15th place on the individual leaderboard, while the University of Kentucky women’s golf team turned in a 12-over-par 292 in the second round to assemble an 18-over-par 578 on Tuesday.

The Wildcats are just 11 shots outside the cutline, with 18 holes to go at The Pelican Golf Club (par 70, 6,254 yards) in Tampa, Florida, on Wednesday.

Kentucky will tee off in the final round Wednesday beginning at 9:40 a.m. ET, paired with Alabama and Florida.

Campbell, who is pacing the lineup as just a freshman, will tee off as the tail leg at 10:20 a.m. ET. The rookie has been a steady hand for the lineup this week, earning a first-round 70 on Monday and another second-round 70 on Tuesday. Her round was even more laidback today, pairing a couple of birdies and a couple of bogeys with 14 pars. In fact, she had one birdie and 13 pars in her final 14 holes.

Campbell’s 70 is the sixth round of par-or-better in 2024-25.

The rookie from Ethridge, Tennessee, has an even-par 140 through 36 holes and is sharing 15th place. She is just two shots off the top 10, while Eila Galitsky of South Carolina continues to lead the 79-person field at 7-under.

Cathryn Brown is still second in the lineup on a 4-over tournament total for a share of 34th place. Her four strokes came by way of five bogeys and one birdie for a 4-over in the second round, squeaking in the timely birdie on the par-4 No. 17.

Brooke Oberparleiter had the best first round to second round turnaround of the lineup Tuesday, dropping three shots to turn in a 2-over-par 72. She led the lineup with four birdies today, which is four more than she recorded Monday. She went from fifth in the lineup to third in the lineup, combining for a 7-over tournament total for T54.

Just behind her is Marta López Echevarría with an 8-over for the event for a share of 58th place. The senior got off to a tough start with a triple on the par-4 No. 2, but she found three birdies on the course today, including the par-4 No. 6, par-4 No. 11 and her last hole on the par-4, No. 18.

Anastasia Hekkonen dropped off in the second round, going 8-over Tuesday. She picked up five bogeys, and a troubling triple on the par-3 No. 12, digging herself in a hole too much to overcome. She moved to 12-over at the SEC Championship for a share of 72nd place.

South Carolina leads the SEC Championship at 20-under, while LSU (-6) is in second place and Texas (-1) moved up to third place.
