Kentucky STUNT Sweeps Doubleheader in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Kentucky STUNT team won two games in the Music City Classic at Trevecca Nazarene on Friday. The Cats beat Maryville 23-3 before topping previously unbeaten Hope International 21-9 in the nightcap.

Kentucky (24-1) jumped out to an early lead in game one, winning all four points in the first quarter, partner stunts. In the second quarter, the Cats continued to roll, again taking all four points in the pyramids and tosses portion of the game. UK led 8-0 at the half.

In the third quarter, jumps and tumbling, Kentucky won the first two points before Maryville won the third routine. The teams tied the fourth routine and the Cats led 11-2 with one quarter to play. In the final stanza, Kentucky earned 12 points, compared to just one for Maryville.

The second game of the day came against previously undefeated Hope International. In the first quarter, the teams split the first two points before Hope won the third routine. The final routine was a tie and Hope International led 3-2 after one quarter.

Kentucky dominated the second quarter, winning all four points to take a 6-3 lead into the half. In the third quarter, UK won the first point before the teams tied on the second routine. The Cats won the third point and the teams tied on the final routine, meaning UK took a 10-5 lead into the final period.

The Cats would win 11 points in the final stanza compared to four for Hope International to provide the final margin of victory.

Kentucky returns to action on Friday in the Mid America West Conference Tournament inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. UK’s opponent and game time have yet to be determined.
