Kentucky Faces Xavier to Close Homestand
Coming off a week that saw Kentucky lose three heartbreaking one-run games before closing it with a Sunday shutout victory, the Wildcats welcome Xavier to Kentucky Proud Park on Tuesday evening.
First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. ET, will stream on the SECN+ and audio air on the UK Sports Network, UKathletics.com app and 98.5 FM in Lexington.
Freshman RHP Nate Harris will draw the fifth start of his career. He is 3-0 with a 3.63 earned run average but did not factor into the decision in last Tuesday’s 5-4 loss to Murray State.
Over the weekend, the Cats (15-7, 2-4 Southeastern Conference) dropped two 8-7 decisions to No. 16 Auburn. In Friday’s series opener the Tigers scored a pair of ninth inning runs after being down to their final out. On Saturday, UK scored four ninth inning runs before a solo home run in the 11th handed them a loss. On Sunday, the pitching staff put up its fourth shutout and a five-run first was more than enough to carry the Cats.
After Tuesday night’s contest UK will travel to Texas A&M this weekend.
