
Kentucky STUNT Finishes Second in The Joust
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Kentucky STUNT team finished as runners-up in The Joust, one of the top STUNT tournaments in the country, on Saturday at California Baptist University.
Kentucky (19-1) opened Saturday’s action by beating Arizona State 24-2, which put the Cats in the championship against four-time defending national champion California Baptist. In the game, it was the Lancers topping the Cats 21-5.
In the first game, Kentucky jumped out to an early lead, winning all four points in the first quarter, partner stunts. In the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, UK took four points while Arizona State claimed one. The Cats took an 8-1 lead into the half.
Kentucky claimed all four points in the third period, jumps and tumbling and took a 12-1 lead into the final stanza. In the fourth quarter, team routine, Kentucky won 12 points compared to just one for Arizona State.
In game two, the Cats fell behind early, as California Baptist claimed all four points in the first quarter. In quarter two, the Lancers won four points while the Cats claimed one and CBU led 8-1 at the half.
The teams tied the first routine of the third quarter before CBU won the final three points to lead 12-2. In the final period, CBU took nine points, while Kentucky claimed three.
UK’s Isabella Doria was named to the first team all-tournament team, while Isabella Franzella was named to the second team.
Kentucky saw its 19-game winning streak, the longest in school history, snapped in the loss.
The Cats return to action on Saturday, facing Hiram and Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa. Game times are 6 and 7 p.m. ET.
