
Kentucky STUNT Sweeps Wednesday Doubleheader in California
IRVINE, Calif. – The Kentucky STUNT team swept a doubleheader on Wednesday night, beating Vanguard and Concordia Irvine inside the CU Arena in Irvine, California.
Kentucky (16-0) topped Vanguard 24-6, then beat homestanding Concordia-Irvine 21-7 in the nightcap.
In the Vanguard victory, Kentucky earned the first point of the first quarter, partner stunts. The teams tied on the next two routines before UK won the final point of the period, giving the Cats a 4-2 lead. In period two, pyramids and tosses, the teams tied on the first routine before Kentucky won the final three points of the quarter to take an 8-3 lead into the half.
Kentucky won the first point of the third quarter, jumps and tumbling, but the teams tied the next two routines. UK would win the final point of the period and the Cats took a 12-5 lead into the final stanza. In the final period, Kentucky earned all 12 possible points to just one for Vanguard to seal the victory.
Against Concordia, the Cats won the first point of the first quarter but saw the Eagles win the next three to take a 3-1 lead after one period. Kentucky would rally in the second quarter, winning four consecutive points to take a 5-3 lead into the half.
In the third quarter, the Cats won the first two points before the teams tied the third routine. UK would claim the final point of the period and took a 9-4 lead after three quarters. Kentucky put the game away by winning 12 points, compared to three for Concordia, in the final stanza.
Kentucky returns to action on Friday in Riverside, California, where the Cats play in The Joust at California Baptist. UK will face Arizona Christian (7 p.m. ET) and William Jessup (9:00 p.m. ET).
