Kentucky Continues Home Opening Week as Hofstra Arrives

No. 23 Kentucky will look to extend its current five-game win streak this weekend when it hosts Hofstra at Kentucky Proud Park to cap a week with five home games.

Friday’s first pitch will be at 4 p.m. ET, Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon. All three games will be available on the UK Sports Network, with Darren Headrick on the call Friday and Andrew Kappes on Saturday and Sunday. Each game will stream on SECN+.

UK has shown an explosive offense in recent games, scoring 12, nine, 24 and eight runs the past four outings. The 24 runs are the most in Kentucky Proud Park history, most for the Cats (6-1) since 2014 and sixth-most in school history. UK has scored 13 first-inning runs the past two games.

The pitching has been even better this week, as true freshmen pitchers have allowed just two runs in 13.0 innings in their collective debuts. The Cats now turn back to senior Nic McCay (11.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R) and sophomore Ben Cleaver (9.2 IP, 5 H, 16 K) to get them off on the right foot this weekend.

UK will have five games over the next six days and eight over the next 11 as it finishes its pre-Southeastern Conference slate.
