Kentucky Hosts Home Opener on Tuesday in Five-Game Week

Coming off a road sweep at Belmont over the weekend the No. 23 Kentucky baseball team returns to Lexington for five home games at Kentucky Proud Park this week, including Tuesday’s tussle with Evansville. First pitch is scheduled for 4.p.m. ET on the SECN+.

Morehead State will come to town Wednesday in a game postponed a week due to extreme temperatures last week with Hofstra arriving Friday for a weekend series.

Freshman right-hander Nate Harris draws the start on Tuesday. The greater Chicagoland (Yorkville, Illinois) native was ranked by Perfect Game as one of the Top 250 freshmen to reach campus this fall.

The Cats (4-1) took care of business at Belmont in three different ways by winning a pitchers’ duel, run-rule game and then staging a rally in game three. Outfielder Carson Hansen put on a show, homering on two of the first three pitches he’s seen this season including a pinch hit grand slam on Saturday and solo shot on Sunday. He also delivered a missile off the wall in his third at bat.

On the pitching side, the quintet of Evan Byers, Ben Cleaver, Nic McCay, Jackson Nove and Scott Rouse allowed just one run, walked only two and struck out 32 in 19.2 innings of work.
