
Makarawu Breaks UK All-Time Record in 200m on Final Day of Tiger Paw Invite
CLEMSON, S.C. and BOSTON, Mass. –Kentucky’s men’s and women’s track and field team completed its split weekend and the final week of the 2025 indoor regular season at the Tiger Paw Invite and the David Hemery Valentine Invite today, adding another school record.
On day one in Boston, Ed Bird broke his own program record in the 3000m final, beating his previous personal best by nearly two seconds with a 7:51.38 mark. Collins Kiprop Kipngok also broke into the record books with his 7:55.30 mark in the same event, coming in at No. 3 all-time at UK.
Today marked another school record for the Wildcats, as Carli Makarawu moved from third to first on the UK all-time list in the men’s 200m final, rounding out the event with a 20.31 mark. Makarawu also reclaimed his second-place spot on the national leaderboard with his performance in Clemson, behind only Auburn’s Makanakaishe Charamba.
Kentucky’s other top finishers included Luke Brown and Grayson Brashear both finishing second in the men’s triple jump and shot put events. Alex Justus recorded the 10th fast time in UK history with a 1:49.46 time in the 800m final. Three Wildcats finished inside the top 10 of the women’s 3000m, including personal records for Ava Hendren and Elly Heine. At the end of the day, the women’s 4x400m relay team posted the 10th fastest time in program history at 3:30.96.
Following the regular season finales, the Wildcats will now gear up for the SEC Indoor Championships in Bryan-College Station, Texas on Feb. 27-Mar. 1.
